Travel trainers are in a unique position to make connections within their communities to increase the potential for independent mobility. This course starts with an overview of the Americans with Disabilities Act and public transportation and how this important piece of federal legislation connects with travel training, followed by information about building a good working relationship with local transportation providers. The remaining two modules explore connections across similar professions such as mobility management and ADA complementary paratransit eligibility programs. The course is self-study with no scheduled meeting times.  All homework assignments must be submitted on or prior to the end date of the course.

This online corse will cover regulatory requirements for fixed-route, ADA complementary paratransit, and demand responsive transportation. Instructors will also distinguish between what is a regulatory requirement and what are best practices in customer service.
