Easterseals Project Action is pleased to offer the following webinars and workshops. Check back often as a variety of accessible transportation related topics will be covered throughout the year. Title: Principles of Effective Leadership (webinar)

Description: In our day-to-day work life, we often become so bogged down with completing the necessary tasks and details that we do not take the time to employ more leadership strategies into our work styles. Your life is hectic, your time is valuable, you are often overloaded, am you may sometimes feel like you are barely “hanging on.” Leadership is often the missing ingredient to greater productivity – not more work! While often we look to our managers as the “Leader,” everyone has the ability to lead others. This workshop demonstrates the essentials for effective leadership, identifies traits every leader should develop, and underscores the impact leadership skills can have on your life and the lives of those you lead.

Description: For most transit systems, customer interaction begins with the operator, dispatcher or even through social media; are you and or your employees ready? This webinar covers ways to boost employee engagement that will ultimately reflect positively onto the customer. Using techniques to identify existing supports already in place within your agency, participants will become aware of their workplace behaviors, build upon strengths, and develop long range outcomes for improved performance.

Description: This engaging and practical workshop equips transit professionals with the tools and knowledge to provide exceptional customer service while maintaining full compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). Participants will gain a clear understanding of ADA paratransit regulations, effective communication strategies, and the importance of sensitivity and professionalism when interacting with riders of all abilities.

Through real-world examples and interactive discussion, the session explores key topics such as reasonable modification, the ADA complaint process, and emergency handling procedures. Special attention is given to confidentiality, effective listening, and responding professionally to difficult customers. Attendees will leave with actionable strategies to foster trust, ensure accessibility, and enhance the rider experience.

Title: Mobility Management and Community Outreach (webinar)

Description: Mobility Managers have a unique advantage in the transportation industry, and can connect with riders one-on-one, or network with other human services providers in the community. This session provides industry insights and guides participants through various elements to community outreach, like how to craft your messaging to different members of the community from riders to elected officials. This webinar will also emphasize the importance of marketing available services, and how to clearly communicate through print media, web content or social media.

Title: How Passengers with Disabilities Travel Independently (webinar)

Description: This webinar is designed to educate participants on how people with disabilities travel independently in their communities. The webinar covers the use of service animals and white canes, mobility devices such as wheelchairs, scooters, walkers and more, the use of technology to aid in traveling independently, and the role of personal care attendants in independent mobility.

Title: Navigating Accessibility: Understanding Fixed-Route and Paratransit ADA Requirements (Remote Mini-Workshop)

Description: Join us for this session on ensuring compliance with accessibility standards in public transportation. This session will provide an overview of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and its non-discrimination mandates. We’ll delve into the specifics of fixed-route transit systems, covering essential aspects such as wheelchair securement, bus stop accessibility, and wheelchair boarding procedures to ensure an inclusive experience for all passengers. Additionally, we’ll explore paratransit services, focusing on age limits, personal care assistants (PCAs), no-show policies, service beyond the curb and other accessibility considerations for both modes including reasonable modifications to enhance accessibility and meet the needs of all riders. This session is designed for transit operators, accessibility coordinators, and anyone involved in ensuring transportation services meet ADA requirements.

NOTE: A minimum of 10 registrants is required. If we have not reached 10 registrants by one week before the workshop, it will be cancelled and you will received a refund for your registration fee. No refunds or make-up sessions will be offered for those that miss sessions. You will not receive a completion certificate unless you participate in the entire workshop.
