Certified Volunteer Transportation Manager
Easterseals Project Action (ESPA) offers a comprehensive certification program for Volunteer Transportation professionals, at all experience levels, with a Certified Volunteer Transportation Manager (CVTM) credential. Courses are provided virtually, taken your own pace, and must be completed within 2 years of initial registration. Coursework and credit hours will be completed through an online learning portal, which is monitored by ESPA Staff. The program requires a total of 60 credit hours, which can be achieved by completing the required four courses, the evaluation mini course, the sustainability mini course, and 2 hours of electives. Passing an online final exam is required to receive your certification.

Who should complete this certification program? Anyone who is currently running or looking to start a volunteer transportation program.  This is also open to any professional looking to expand their transportation knowledge into new areas.

Program Overview
Completion of the Easterseals Project Action Certified Volunteer Transportation Manager Program will deepen your understanding, strengthen community impact and maximize the effectiveness of your Volunteer Transportation program. In this program, you will learn about the different phases of developing and operating a volunteer transportation program and the unique way it can fill gaps in existing transportation services.  Each course has been designed by experts in the field and built specifically for new and existing programs.

The required Foundations Courses were developed using real-life perspectives that can be immediately put into practice and applied to urban and rural areas across the country. Participants will be provided with quality trainings in the following areas:

  • Starting a Volunteer Transportation Program
  • Developing Quality Volunteers
  • Laying the Foundation for Daily Operations
  • Operationalizing a Volunteer Transportation Program
  • Volunteer Transportation Program Evaluation and Sustainability
  • Organizational Leadership

After completion of this certification program, participants will be able to navigate the unique challenges that exist within volunteer programs, effectively problem solve, and approach a variety of situations with confidence and in a professional manner.
