Have you ever wondered how many companions are allowed to ride with a complementary paratransit eligible passenger? Or how much assistance a bus operator is required to provide to a passenger with a disability in boarding the bus? Or how many service animals a person with a disability can bring on a fixed route bus? If you have had these question or other ADA related questions accessible transportation, then this workshop is for you. This 1.5 day, in-person workshop will cover regulatory requirements for fixed-route, ADA complementary paratransit, and demand responsive transportation. Instructors will also distinguish between what is a regulatory requirement and what are best practices in customer service.
Registration each day begins at 8:00 a.m. with the workshop beginning promptly at 8:30 a.m. The workshop ends at 4:30 p.m. on day 1 and at 12:00 p.m. on day 2. Please plan to stay until the end of day 2 when planning your travel. There is not a pre-determined workshop hotel. Select your own lodging, but please consider your commute time when choosing. All meals, refreshments, and travel costs are the responsibility of the participant with the exception of coffee and bottled water which will be provided. There is no dress code for the workshop. Please dress comfortably. Outdoor activities will occur rain or shine.
